Cigar Leaf Tobacco Varieties
Connecticut Broadleaf
Connecticut Broadleaf, unlike Connecticut shade, is grown in full sun, where the leaf gets thick and dark. This batch is earthy and toasty with a lack of sweetness. Distinctive bitter chocolate notes with a rustic character.
Connecticut Shade
Is the gold standard of non-Cuban cigar wrappers. It's the mild cigars lover's wrapper and the most sought after wrapper leaf grown in the world. It is used in the world's most expensive cigars. It is mild in flavor with a subtle sweet woodiness and toast characteristics.
Havana #1
Light colored mild Cuban leaf. It's a wrapper quality leaf with wonderful top notes . It has an elegance and sophistcation that is very appealing to a sophisticated palate. It is mild in flavor with a satisfying Cuban profile.
Temporarily out of stock. More in the works!
Havana #2
A darker colored medium strength Cuban leaf. It's a small binder quality leaf with wonderful top and mid notes. It is a Seco (middle leaf) of a modern Criollo. It is medium in flavor density with a satisfying Cuban profile. The extract is much darker than Havana #1.
Havana #3
This is a Volado (lower-plant) Cuban leaf . It's a large binder leaf with wonderful mid-range tobacco notes. This is a US grown variety from Cuban seed in Connecticut. It has a good rich Cuban flavor profile.
Dominica #1
Dominican cigar leaves have a unique distinctive character and flavor profile from The Yaque Valley. This one has a real leather element with spicy overtones and is slightly "salty". It reminds me of a good A. Fuente. Light in color.
Nicaragua #1
Cigars from ACID, Drew Estate, Padron, Perdomo and CAO are great examples of the robust flavor profiles the best Nicaraguan cigars. Our first leaf from Nicaragua has an earthy, woody flavor with notes of chocolate and pepper.
Sumatra Wrapper
Our Sumatra tobacco is grown from Sumatran seed in Ecuador. Tasting notes include cinnamon, earth, floral notes, and a slightly sweet aftertaste. Elegant floral notes, Very light green color (chartreuse). Absolutely unique (very tasty).
Columbia Dark Leaf - Temporarily OUT OF STOCK April 16 2023
This variety has a nice old world character. Rich and dark flavor notes. Very Earthy. Surprisingly light colored when extracted from the dark leaf.
Ecuadorian Wrapper leaf
A cloud shade leaf grown from the Habano 2000 seed at high altitude. A darker leaf than what might be expected - This one is quite dark and rich.
Temporarily out of stock. New batch is in the tanks!
Pennsylvania Oscuro
The PA Oscuro wrapper is a double dark Maduro leaf with deep chocolate notes. Grown here in Pennsylvania in fertile soils.
San Andres Mexican Maduro
Cuban-seed tobacco grown in Mexico’s San Andres region. It is noted for its smooth and toasty qualities with a sweetness that is typical of Havana Maduros. A San Andres Cuban-seed tobacco wrapper comes in a variety of shades. The dark chocolate wrapper is extra fermented and brings peppery notes with smooth, toasty qualities accompanied by the usual sweetness you find in most Maduro cigars. Flavor notes also include wood, earth soil, and clay.
Hitchcock's Mystery Cigar
A blend of the lastest cigar leaf extracts. Some are years aged in the maceration tanks. In general, the more complex the flavor notes the more we like them. The flavors change over time depending upon which extracts are available.
Pipe Tobacco Varieties
Latakia Tobacco
Latakia Is mainly grown in Syria and Cyprus. It is fire cured over burning aromatics - woods and herbs (Camel dung traditionally). Although the wars in the Middle East are interrupting the supply somewhat, Latakia still remains one of the most popular “spice tobaccos” for pipe blends. Latakia provides a heavy, rich, smoky flavor.
MAPACHO Wild Tobacco (Nicotiana Rustica)
It is most close in flavor to a dark air cured burley crossed with a cigar leaf.
There are deep, earthy tones but with ever-present natural floral notes.
We call Virginias “grassy” or “fruity” and Burleys “nutty” or “woodsy” or "with caramel notes". This isn’t quite any of those: it’s an earthy, leafy smell. I don’t mean leaves like tea leaves, or dry leaves, but rather like when you’re out in a dense wooded area in the summer, and there’s a subtle but permeating aroma of vegetation. Mapacho leaf has a very high nicotine content but I don't extract the nicotine. It has a distinctively strong very "tobacco" note.
All Natural Real Flavors. Mix them as desired.
They are designed to be blended any way that suits your taste
